As you know Broadland CLP  has supported Proportional Representation in the past. LECR have written to me as follows:

To all LCER members and supporters,

We hope you and your loved ones are managing to stay well.

We’d like to start by saying a big thank you to everyone who responded to our call to make submissions on voting reform to the Labour Party’s policy consultation. A very large number of submissions were made on electoral reform, many by our members.

It’s clear that many more submissions were made on electoral reform than on any other subject in the Justice and Home Affairs area (and possibly in any area). This is a huge success – thank you! The volume of opinion makes it increasingly difficult for the policy forum to sideline this issue, and gives important weight to our campaigning work.

This month, we’re inviting our supporters to do two things.

We received an overwhelming response to our survey on messaging earlier this year. We’d like your help with another short survey to fine-tune some of our findings.
Sign and share a petition calling on the Government to introduce PR, and help get it debated in Parliament.

Over the next few mailings, we’ll bring you an update on our preparations for the next Party Conference; an update on NEC elections; and we’ll be launching a big consultation on electoral systems.

With best wishes from the team at LCER

We received an excellent response to our survey earlier this year – over 1700 people took part, providing useful insights into why Labour members and voters support PR.

We’d like to delve a little deeper into some of the issues raised by the first survey – as before, please take part yourself and forward it to other Labour voters.

And please keep an eye out for our big survey on electoral systems which we’ll be launching later this summer. We’ll report back in the Autumn with the findings from all the surveys.

LCER member Theo Morgan has started a Parliamentary petition calling for the Government to introduce proportional representation for all elections in the UK. Please sign and share! This is also an opportunity to get the issue onto your MP’s radar – please invite your MP to sign and share, and forward any responses to us at this address.
