Make Votes Matter & Labour Campaign for Electoral Reform have written to me to say that the they are continuing to work to mobilise support for Proportional Representation across the Labour movement. Broadland CLP passed a motion supporting PR on 19 Janurary 2019. They go on to say that they want to flag up an easy opportunity for you to draw further attention to this issue:
The National Policy Forum are currently consulting on a range of topics, including ‘Devolution and the Constitution after coronavirus’. Specifically, question 5 allows us to highlight PR as an important issue:
When thinking about reform, which areas of the constitution present the most pressing concerns?
This is obviously a great opportunity to mention that electoral reform is among the most pressing concerns when it comes to the constitution!
The consultation closes on the 30th of June. We are conscious that this unfortunately means CLPs won’t be able to debate and vote on collective submissions in time for the deadline. However, since it is a topic your CLP has previously agreed a position on, you have the option of simply submitting the motion again or something based on it. We strongly encourage you to do so to keep this issue on the agenda!
