The International Transgender day of Visibility (TDOV) will be held on 31st March. It is a day to show your support for the trans community, help celebrate and support their successes and to continue to spread the word about the trans community.
In order to do this you can take some of these easy steps:
- Learn more about Trans history – were you aware that trans women of colour were on the front lines of Stonewall? That a transgender man helped fund the New Age Movement? Trans people have been involved in a lot of important events
- Get involved in events – there are usually plenty of events happening to go along and get involved with.
- Learn the differences between Gender Identity, Gender Expression, Sex Assigned at Birth, Sexuality, and Emotional Attraction. There is also a lot of trans terminology/LGBT+ language that we should know.
- Call out bad behaviour – tell people when they say something transphobic or cissexist
