Dr Rosena Allin-Kahn has written to me as follows:
Dear Philip,
I wanted you to be the first to know – we are on the ballot for Deputy Leader.
It’s been a busy few weeks, hundreds of volunteers have been speaking up for me at nomination meetings, even more have been leafleting for me – thank you! This race has taken me across the country, from Plymouth to Glasgow via Grimsby – I’ve loved every minute of it!
Now the real challenge begins. There are over half a million Labour supporters eligible to vote in this election, to send just one text would cost me about £15,000, to call everyone would cost £30,000 and to post everyone a letter will cost me over £200,000.
Here are three things you can do to help me become Labour Deputy Leader:
1. Tweet your support by clicking here.
2. Chip-in a few quid to help kickstart my campaign. Donate here.
3. Join me at my official campaign launch on Friday.Growing up in poverty under Thatcher, I was constantly told that I wouldn’t amount to anything – but today, with your help, we’ve shown that the glass ceiling can be broken!
See you soon,
Rosena
