I have received the following email
Dear CLP Secretary,
I hope you are safe and well.
I would appreciate it if your CLP considers my request for nomination as a candidate for NEC CLP place. Please circulate the below message to your CLP members.
If you could also let me know when your nomination meeting is taking place, it would be appreciated. I am happy to attend any events and speak to CLP members.
Let’s break this concrete ceiling together and elect the first Black man to the NEC.
Please nominate me, Jermain Jackman at your CLP meeting
When I sit back and think about the last decade – the devastation caused by this Tory-led government comes to mind. I think about the thousands of students who currently have a dark cloud of debt over their heads. I think about the families struggling to keep up with the cost of living and rising rent. I think about our marginalised communities: our Black and Brown brothers and sisters, our trans siblings, our Gypsi, Roma and Traveller comrades facing daily battles because of hostile environments, institutional racism and discrimination. I fear for the future with five more years of an incompetent Tory government. We must fight this.
It is unquestionable our country needs a radical Labour Government, however our journey towards that is of equal importance. This is why I am running to be your CLP representative on our NEC. We need to prepare a Labour Party for a government committed to progressive policies that will transform the lives of working people up and down our country.
On the NEC, I will continue to support party democratisation that returns the power of decision making to where it belongs – the members! I will ensure CLPs have the resources needed to support their projects and events, and to campaign on the issues that affect them and their local communities.
I will fight for a Labour Party that is anchored by its socialist values, whilst ensuring anti-racism is at its core.
And finally, in uniting our whole movement, we must ensure we listen and learn from the local communities and grassroot voices – YOU are at the heart of change and the Party must listen.
I have attached a copy of my manifesto, it includes:
- Opening statement
- 5 Key pledges
- Pre-made nomination speech for anyone who wishes to speak on my behalf
I know that you share my passion to build a positive vision for the future of our party and country. So please nominate me ahead of your CLP meeting.
I’m keen to hear and speak to members and CLPs across our party, so please do contact me on: email@example.com
