Subject: Youth Rep. to the NEC Candidacy
Dear Brenda Jones,
My name is Oliver Tucker and I am one of the candidates for Youth Representative to the NEC. I am contacting you today to ask if you are going to be endorsing candidates for the NEC, and if so, how I am able to make myself that candidate.
I am a rural youth member, based in the Tiverton and Honiton constituency party. I am an active campaigner in my area and town, and am looking to stand for Devon County Council next year. As Youth Rep. one of my promises is to increase the accessibility of meetings – a policy certainly fomented by the struggle of travelling around a rural constituency such as Tiverton and Honiton, or even Broadland.
You can read more about me here.
It’s really important to me that the Youth Representative puts the members of Young Labour first – that’s why I have come up with a simple, five point vision for how I would change the Labour Party if elected.
- Increase youth membership
- Make meetings accessible to young people 3. Reinvigorate Young Labour 4. Up-Skill members 5. Strive for Social and Environmental justice.
You can read more about my vision here, as well as seeing an explanation of each promise.
It would mean a lot to me if you were able to pass on the details of my candidature to your members – I know in Tiverton and Honiton we have both a weekly newsletter and a closed Facebook group, I assume there is something similar in Broadland?
Naturally, I would be more than happy to speak to your members if they would like to, especially with regard to youth members – please do get in touch if this is something you’re interested in, and if more CLPs in your area are interested I could organise an area Zoom call.
Please do let me know about your process,
