Subject: Labour NEC elections ???

Dear Philip,

As well as electing a new leader and deputy leader, we will also be electing three representatives to the Labour Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

One of these representatives will be elected by Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority (BAME) members of the Party for the first time. The vote will be carried out using an electoral college of 50% BAME members and 50% affiliated trade unions.

To stand as a candidate and vote in the election, you will need to self-identify as Black, Asian or Ethnic Minority on the Labour Party’s Equalities Form by 14 February.

The two CLP representative positions will be elected by a one member one vote ballot of full members. Anyone who has been a member for longer than 8 consecutive weeks as of 6 January 2020 will receive a ballot for this election.

Each member wishing to be considered for these positions needs to meet the below criteria:

NEC CLP representative x 2

  • have been a member of the party continuously since 20 January 2019
  • receive nominations from at least five CLPs

NEC BAME representative

CLP nominations for all positions on the NEC need to be submitted by 23.59 on 14 February.

Detailed procedures, the election timetable, and further information on both positions can be found on the Governance & Legal Hub.
