(the smallest number of people needed to be present at a meeting before it can officially begin and before official decisions can be taken)
Last year our AGM agreed to comply with a direction from the Regional Director that our “quorum” should increase from 15 to 20. We have now been informed that the National Executive of the Labour Party have directed that the minimum quorum for any CLP will be 25.
We understand the reason for this. It is designed to ensure that decisions taken by our members meetings are truly representative.. After all 25 is only 4% of our 620 members.
This will be a challenge as only three of the last eight meetings have met this threshold.
We have tried to make our meetings interesting and we have been able to attract some interesting guest speakers. If you think there is anything else we can do to make meetings more attractive, please do let us know.
