Building Solidarity with all our Communities – GMB
2018 Eastern regional Conference passed the following motion.
This conference condemns the latest manifestation of the far right in Norwich in the form of an organisation calling itself ‘The for Britain Movement’ which has targeted and is campaigning against the Muslim community in the Mile Cross ward and the recent planning application from the East Anglian Bangladeshi Islamic Trust for a mosque and a new community cafe on the site of a disused public house.
We call on all sections of the Labour Party to stand together with all sections of our community that genuinely promote social cohesion and just as steadfastly against all those who promote and encourage racism and lslamaphobia.
Conference stands firmly with our Muslim brothers and sister in Norwich and elsewhere and will do everything we can to promote social cohesion between and amongst all sections of the community and at this time especially the Muslim community who are under increasing attacks from the far right.
Following debate the resolution was agreed unanimously by conference delegates.
