The country may be in lockdown but your Labour councillors at Broadland District Council are still doing their bit to help during this pandemic.
Both Cllr Cook and Harpley are working from home and doing all they can to assist the community effort.
In addition to remote support, they have both donated their entire unwanted councillor allowance increases to local good causes that are helping those most in need:
£130 – Dawn’s New Horizon
£350 – Sprowston Food Bank
£100 – SENsational Families
£250 – Norwich Homeless Lunches
£190 – Norwich Soup Movement
£200 – Norwich Foodbank
£365 – Norfolk Community Foundation Covid19 response fund
£56 – NARS
A new food bank has been set up at St Cuthbert’s Church on Wroxham Road. They are entirely reliant on personal donations and supermarket overstock. Luckily, we have been able to source 2 small freezers for them to store excess bread etc – thanks to the generosity of Sprowston residents. If anyone else is feeling generous and would like to donate to this much needed resource, please drop us a message or contact the church directly. Likewise if you are struggling and need to use it.
Sprowston is doing us proud with their amazing community spirit – from the mutual aid support group and its volunteers to the weekly clap for carers/NHS, rainbows and teddies in windows and the fabulous “help yourself” tables/buckets of joy left outside people’s houses – you are all amazing and we couldn’t be prouder to be your Sprowston Central councillors.
