The following motion was moved by a member at a general meeting of the CLP on 13th July 2019 (following on from the AGM). Members voted to remit the motion to the Executive committee for consideration.
This CLP is firmly committed to increasing the attendance of members at its meetings. The more members who attend our meetings the stronger we are as a CLP. In the spirit of this commitment it calls on the secretary to insert the following sentence into an appropriate spot in the bi-monthly notifications which he sends to members in respect of AMMs.
”The more members who attend our meetings the stronger our party is, so of course if you haven’t clicked the red button or told us in advance that you are coming you are still more than welcome to come to the meeting”.
A member had asked that the above motion be put on the agenda of the 11th May 2019 General (ALL Members) Meeting. Although the motion was been submitted in good time for the 9th March 2019 General (ALL Members). Subsequently that member informed us that as they were unable to attend that meeting wished to defer consideration of the motion until the 11th May 2019 General (ALL Members) Meeting which because of the May local elections was postponed untill 8th June. The member was unavailable for that postponed May meeting and the motion was tabled at the July AGM which he could attend.
