Subject:Urgent BAME NEC Seat Election
As you may be aware the current election process we are doing through includes election a BAME member to the NEC. I am a member of Streatham CLP who has nominated Jermain Jackman for the BAME NEC seat.
Jermain is a 25 year young black person born & bread in Hackney’s working class and BAME community. He is someone who has accepted the challenge without any hesitation to becoming his generation’s voice for freedom, equality and justice.
“It is so important that the NEC not only reflects but empowers the communities they represent”
With growing division and uncertainty in Britain, I will be that strong voice for BAME members and help the Party stand and fight for Britain’s ethnic minority communities in the same way they have always fought for us.
I would like to ask you to consider nominating him to be a candidate for the BAME NEC seat. I have attached is nomination statement.
The deadline for CLP to nominate a candidate for the BAME NEC seat closes on Friday 14th February.
The ballots will be sent out to members who have registered as self-defined BAME on 21st February closing on 2nd April. Only members who self-define as BAME will be able to vote for the BAME seat. BAME members are required to register by the 14th February will be able to receive a BAME NEC ballot.
Can you ensure the link below is circulated to all your members, encouraging those who self-identify as BAME to register to receive the ballot.

Lastly, once the nominations have been confirmed, would you be able host a hustings for the BAME NEC Seat election, either for your CLP or a group of CLPs. It would be great opportunity to start to get your BAME members more engaged in our work in and outside our party.
